Seattle Immersive Theatre teams up with System D Artists to present a February of shows like you've never seen.
We open with Storyville Rising, an Immersive exploration of sex, race, power and privilege in Reconstruction-era America, told through theater, historical narrative, live music, transgressive burlesque and cabaret. Original text, as well as transcripts and interviews, tell the story of the habitués of Storyville and the forces of “polite society” that sought to shut it down.
Late nights on Saturdays in February, we bring you The Few Clothes Cabaret, where you can experience our own slice of turn-of-the-century New Orleans with a party in our Storyville-themed speakeasy. Dance the night away live performances including a “birth of jazz” five piece band, burlesque, and circus acts. Feel free to explore our worlds of the notorious red-light district and sip some cocktails in the shanty town, the bordello, or even the house of God itself.
Lastly, To celebrate Mardi Gras in Style, don a costume or cocktail attire and join us for The Ball of Two Well-Known Gentlemen, an after-hours Mardi Gras Masquerade. We'll have dancing, cocktails, an 8-piece New Orleans Brass Band, burlesque dancers, and exotic aerialist acts performing throughout the night for your enjoyment.
